In cleanroom construction, FFU (Fan Filter Unit) counts often reach hundreds. Manual device addressing is the most time-consuming and error-prone step: every unit needs DIP switches set by hand, and a wrong switch or wrong position is extremely costly to debug.
The Rays-Power FFU group control system eliminates this problem at the source. All driver boards ship with identical firmware and a default address (0). During installation, units are connected to the RS-485 bus in order; the gateway detects unaddressed units and automatically assigns addresses 1-60 sequentially, writing them to device storage — no data loss on power-off.
The process achieves three zeros: zero-config (install order = address order), zero mis-touch (addressed devices protected), zero data loss (persistent storage).
In the extreme case of multiple unaddressed units powered on simultaneously, the system detects broadcast conflicts and alerts. The FFU status LED shows addressing progress: fast blink = waiting, solid = done.
Since July 2026 batch validation, auto addressing has been deployed in multiple cleanroom projects — addressing 60 FFUs per zone now takes minutes instead of hours, with zero human errors.
